Accepted!
When I first toured South, I knew right away that it was the school for me. So, when it came time to apply, I was determined to not only get accepted, but to also receive a scholarship. I studied for and took the ACT about 6 times. I needed at least a 28 to get half of my tuition paid for, which is what I needed to afford South.
After months of studying, it all paid off. I had finally made a 29 on the ACT and the only thing standing between me and the school of my dreams was acceptance. Finally, one day I got home from school just as the mail was running and noticed a letter sized envelope with "USA" printed on it. I was certain it had to be my letter of acceptance, but considering I only applied to South, I was nervous that it could've been a rejection.
Now of course it was an acceptance letter, with an added Presidential Scholarship worth $20,000! Seeing those words sent happiness and adrenaline through my veins. I never could've imagined the warm sensation I felt knowing I had set a goal and achieved it. Getting in to South may have been a small step, but it felt huge! Also receiving a Presidential Scholarship has continued to push me to work my hardest in school and reminds me that I can do anything I set myself out to do.
Applying to a university or scholarship can be scary, but the reward makes all of the hard work and hours spent working toward that goal worth it.
