One Big Jag Family

Here, at South, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and give back to the community. One way I try to stay an active member is through South Alabama's American Advertising Federation Chapter (AAF).

AAF is just one of the clubs that I am proud to call my own. I am Secretary and help facilitate awareness of current events throughout the university. One way to help our members succeed is by hosting several career-related events for them to attend.

AAF hosts a resume workshop to help upperclassmen prepare for a career out of college and to round out underclassmen resumes as they prepare for internships. We also invite guest speakers to talk to our members and give advice, as well as set up agency tours for our members to gain some insight on the careers available to them.

Since we are a major-specific organization, its important that we appeal to other students as we try to give back. One way we extended our reach beyond Communication Majors is our annual Grilled Cheese Day. Around finals, AAF sets up in the Student Center and gives out grilled cheeses and tomato soup to raise money so that the organization can send students to attend a career conference with the nation's leading advertising agencies.

All of these tools provided by AAF give students a better understanding to the world they are going to enter once they graduate college.  Our mission is to see our members excel and to lead them in the direction of their career dreams. Personally, I feel that any major-based organization should thrive to do the same.
